When My Heart Is Overwhelmed

Do you ever have those days where you just feel overwhelmed?  I do.  Sometimes the feeling comes because of the busyness of life and number of tasks that need completed.  Sometimes it is due to the weight of burdens and concerns that seem to pile up.  Whenever I begin to feel overwhelmed, the Holy Spirit brings this verse to mind:

I have a found several ways that help me seek out and keep my eyes fixed on Jesus in those overwhelming moments.

  • Through the Word – I read and reread the promises of God and fill my thoughts with His truths.
  • Through Prayer  – “Cast all your cares on Him, for He careth for you.”  And if I can’t find or speak words, sometimes I just imagine myself resting in the safe refuge of my Saviour’s arms.
  • With Christian Music – Whether they’re contemporary songs, or favorite hymns, listening to and singing praises to God lifts and lightens my spirit.
  • With Good People – I surround myself with the love and laughter of my family and friends.  It’s an invaluable comfort to just be with those who know you and care about you.

When my heart is overwhelmed, I go to the Rock.   Have you discovered ways that help you “come unto Him” in those especially burdensome times?

Many Blessings,

Pray With Your Eyes Wide Open

If your husband doesn't take the spiritual leadership for the family, don't despair. Begin to pray for him! See the potential, and pray for it today, and you may see it come to pass soon – with your eyes wide open.
