Please excuse the clutter…

In the zone

Some might call it a dining table, but I think it’s more aptly described as a clutter drop zone.  My attempts to keep the table clear are generally futile, as it is such a handy, centrally-located spot for setting down…well, everything.   But at the moment, its surface is covered with items related to my 14-year-old daughter’s current interest, and that has me smiling.

For the past week, she has been enthusiastically learning how to use a sewing machine that her grandparents recently brought her.  Creating her own projects, and asking the rest of the family for things she can sew, she’s been spending a good chunk of her spare time at the machine sitting on that cluttered tabletop.  And I have been fully enjoying watching her learn as she engages in something that delights her, and perhaps something that will turn into a passion she will continue to pursue.

For that, I will happily ignore a mess on the table.  Because who knows?  Maybe we have a seamstress in the making here :)

Do you have a clutter drop zone? Where is it, and what is in the zone right now?
