Women Need Appreciation

Women have a great need for appreciation. Even if it’s a simple “thank you” for fixing dinner, or a hungry ummmh when they come into the kitchen and smell a savory supper, or an admiring glance when you walk out the door, or a tender, longing embrace and sweet something whispered in the ear, women need appreciation.

I hope that your husband recognizes your need for appreciation, (and there’s nothing wrong with prompting him, cuing him in, or even preparing the script for him to repeat!). But I hope that you recognize your own need for appreciation of a different sort — financial appreciation!

In accounting terms, appreciation is an increase in value of goods or property.

So, if you have a 1959 Barbie doll in mint condition, it is now worth. . . thousands, because it has appreciated in value, and is now worth more than it was originally.

If you plant a penny’s worth of tomato seed, and harvest twenty pounds of tomatoes, your investment in seed has appreciated in value to more than $40 at today’s market prices.

If you rented a field, and planted a crop of wheat, the golden waves of grain, in the fruited plain, have now appreciated to the value of the harvested crop at market.

The Proverbs 31 Woman teaches us the value of making investments that appreciate in value when she turned a rocky hillside into a vineyard. Not only did her crop appreciate in value, she realized an appreciation of real property. She experienced real appreciation! Real estate has traditionally been recognized as a good long-term investment because real property appreciates in value (recognizing the occasional readjustment of the market that some have encountered :( ).

Are you experiencing enough appreciation? If not, perhaps you need to evaluate what you are spending your money for. Is it for things that are used up and discarded? Is it for vanity or pleasure (my girls tell me that the average woman will spend $15,000 on cosmetics in her lifetime). Or are you making deposits into long-term investments?

The most lucrative investments are those that will appreciate in value in the lives of those we love, or investing in the kingdom, where moth and rust doth not corrupt, or investing in future growth and stability for our family.

We women were created to produce. We are happiest when we are growing and birthing! We were designed to cause things to appreciate in value. No wonder — our bodies were intricately designed and created to specialize in taking microscopic particles and turning them into babies. Ultimate appreciation!

If you are frustrated and unfulfilled, you might need to invest yourself into an appreciable asset! And may you experience multiplied appreciation as you give and invest your assets!

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38

I appreciate you!
